Overview

Hybrid Candidates will be considered for this position, preferred location close proximity to one of the following: Salt Lake City, UT, Phoenix, AZ, Tucson, AZ

Description of the Account Manager Position:

The Account Manager leads the overall business development efforts, facilitates multi-team communication, and guides successful project delivery to maintain a high level of satisfaction for key Bernhard clients. The Account Manager's is accountable for client satisfaction and sales growth of Bernhard clients.

Responsibilities

 

Specific Responsibilities of the Account Manager Position:

  • Understands a customer's needs and goals, plans how to meet these needs, and grows sales for the company as a result.
  • Develops and implements strategic plans to meet the client's goals, ensuring the customer is aware of all service offerings.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with clients on multiple levels, including but not limited to facility manager, facility director, project managers, energy manager, sustainability director, technicians, C-suite, and procurement specialists.
  • Engages in project delivery including attending client kickoff meetings, monthly (or so) participation in project meetings, and facilitating client closeout meetings. Engages in occasional one-on-one calls to clients.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Bernhard's delivery team to ensure successful project delivery. Hands off projects to PM upon award. Participates in client kickoff meetings.
  • Leverages opportunities to connect talent and clients, creating new and innovative relationships and outcomes. Meets one new person each month.
  • Manages, directs, and/or executes all aspects of fee proposals, qualification packages, and RFP/RFQ responses. Participates in interviews and related sales activities.
  • Gathers needed information from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to support writing activities. Translates technical subject matter into easily understandable content.
  • Tracks and maintains business development activities client contact database in Cosential/Unanet CRM. This includes client contact database, sales activities (calls/emails/meetings/other), lead tracking, opportunity tracking, sales forecasts, and proposal status tracking. This position is accountable to CRM activity targets.
  • Follows established sales processes and takes direction from senior leadership.
  • Participates in lunch or after-hours networking opportunities.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations at local/regional/national industry organization events such as ASHE, ASHRAE, AEE, IFMA, BOMA.
  • Works closely with Business Development Associate, Director of Account Management, and VP of Business Development.

Qualifications

 

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in the architectural, engineering, construction, finance, or real estate industry.
  • 5+ years' of demonstrated business development or client relationship experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Well versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Deep experience/understanding of HVAC mechanical systems and/or central chilled water/boiler plant operations. Ability to read/interpret mechanical blueprints is a plus. Knowledge of building construction, general contracting, and facility/systems commissioning is a differentiator.
  • Deep experience/understanding of building automation and control systems. Ability to read/interpret controls diagrams and submittals is a plus. Knowledge of fault detection, analytics, and monitoring-based commissioning service offerings is a differentiator.
  • Deep experience/understanding of facilities maintenance and/or healthcare/higher education organizations.
  • Deep experience/understanding energy efficiency projects. Knowledge of retro-commissioning, utility programs, energy service contracts, and/or energy-as-a-service is a differentiator.
  • Existing relationships and connections with potential clients in healthcare/higher education or other industry partners that directly translate to sales leads.

Travel Requirements:

  • 20% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Quiet environment.
  • Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
