Overview

The Energy Analyst I is responsible for organizing and analyzing utility and supporting energy use data to assist with the review and evaluation of energy and cost efficiency opportunities. An Energy Analyst will frequently interact with clients, contractors, and engineers to fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Energy Procurement and Analytics
    • Collect, compile, organize, and analyze utility consumption data and rates.
    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of utility supply-side opportunities.
    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of utility procurement logistics.
    • Develop a comprehensive understanding of possible utility energy efficiency rebate and incentive programs.
    • Research utility rate changes and deregulated energy cost trends.
    • Conduct energy benchmarks using internal and external tools such as EPA Energy Star.
    • Review utility invoices for errors and work to resolve the errors with the utility.
    • Create utility budgets.
  • Energy Auditing
    • Assist with the collection, review, and analysis of data collected from field surveys and utility data.
    • Develop a thorough understanding of existing building and its MEP systems.
    • Assist with the identification and evaluation of improvements for energy or cost reductions.
    • Assist with the development of associated technical reports.
  • Measurement and Verification
    • Assist with the development and implementation IPVMP, Adherent Measurement and Verification (M&V) Plans.

This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to the Lead Energy Analyst.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 2-4 years of experience.
  • Possesses beginning to working knowledge of the subject matter.
  • Ability to influence others.
  • Problem/situation analysis.
  • Conceptual thinking skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Travel Requirements

  • Expected to travel 20% of the time.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and poles.
  • Climb stairs in an office building.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Low & high temperatures.
  • Noisy and quiet environments.
  • Small and/or enclosed spaces.
  • Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
