Overview

Job Description - Senior Service Project Manager

The Senior Service Project Manager is responsible for overseeing Service Project Managers and all aspects of the project. They are accountable for managing the project costs, field labor, subcontractors/vendors, and delivering a quality, safe, and on-time project, under budget, exceeding customer’s expectations. They have first-line ownership/accountability/responsibility of the project(s) with no excuses.

Responsibilities

Specific responsibilities for the Senior Service Project Manager include:

  • Manage Service Project Managers: Provide leadership and direction to Service Project Managers.
  • Champion of project safety: Maintain a safe work environment through safety meetings, incident investigations, and employee involvement.
  • Execute project through the lifecycle: Take total responsibility for executing a project from initiation to completion.
  • Ensure compliance: Ensure compliance with legal requirements and ethical standards.
  • Ensure quality: Ensure that work meets corporate standards and project requirements.
  • Conduct operational meetings: Conduct and document operational project meetings with relevant parties.
  • Manage vendors and subcontractors: Negotiate and prepare purchase orders, evaluate submittals, and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors.
  • Perform project setup: Set up project details in the job costing system and submit for approval.
  • Monitor project finances: Conduct monthly cost reviews, meet or exceed financial budgets, and drive cash flow.
  • Coordinate documentation: Obtain and coordinate lien waivers, state notifications, tax documentation, and project detail drawings.
  • Estimate change orders: Estimate change orders and submit for approval.
  • Coordinate project requirements: Attend jobsite meetings, schedule deliveries, document project sites, review labor reports, coordinate progress, and manage material requisitions.
  • Maintain customer relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor risk management: Ensure proper documentation, including contracts, insurance, and bonds.
  • Develop field personnel: Identify and develop field personnel, including workers, foremen, and superintendents.
  • Verify quality and accuracy: Ensure fabrication and equipment meet project plans, specifications, and local codes.
  • Finalize project documentation: Finalize operation and maintenance manuals, coordinate startup and commissioning, and prepare for final inspection.
  • Complete project closure: Collect payments, close project financials, and store documentation.

This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to the Business Unit Manager or Regional Director of Service.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • 4 Year Degree: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or applicable fieldwork experience in Plumbing.
  • Minimum 10+ years' experience: Verifiable Project Management experience working for a mechanical subcontractor in the areas of commercial HVAC and Plumbing.
  • Experience with various projects: Must have verifiable experience in working on various projects simultaneously, including University buildings, etc.
  • Effective communication skills: Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented: Must be detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry: Should be well versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
  • Ability to multitask: Should have the ability to multitask and perform duties outside the scope of work when necessary.

Travel Requirements

  • 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Quiet environment.
  • Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
