Overview

Purpose and Essential Duties

The Legal Department Intern is a law student with an interest in various areas of law including construction, litigation, energy, and contracts.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities and required skills include:

  • Legal support to Development, Delivery, Sustainability, and Corporate groups on transactional, contract, and litigation issues.
  • Litigation assistance including document review and discovery.
  • Assistance with notice and demand letters and responses.
  • Legal research and writing.
  • Identification of proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risks.
  • Excellent business judgment and appropriate decision-making ability.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to synthesize and discuss complex matters.
  • Adherence to ethical principles and strict compliance with confidentiality obligations.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of business leaders.
  • Strategic thinking.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

 

This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to the various Associate General Counsels.

Qualifications

 

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Current Law Student
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Up to 5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

 

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Quiet environment.
  • Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
