The Accounting Manager is responsible for supporting the accounting operations of the company, including driving alignment and efficiency in the accounting organization, monthly close cycle, financial reporting, internal controls and policy development while driving process improvements by leveraging JDE and other reporting tools and software.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
• Assists the Corporate Controller in overseeing the operations of the accounting department and in direct supervision of staff members, including managing an organizational structure to achieve the department's goals and objectives.
• Assists in directly supervising all general ledger functions.
• Prepares and reviews general ledger journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assists in issuing timely and complete monthly financial statements.
• Compiles yearly audit schedules and assists with audit.
• Compiles support for local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and assists with tax filings.
• Assists Corporate Controller with a variety of tasks and special projects as requested by management.
• Reviews and works to improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
This position is Full-Time, Exempt, and reports to the Corporate Controller.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related area.
• 5 plus years of relevant experience.
• Strong cost accounting knowledge and experience.
• Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Relationship, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Strong leadership and management skills.
• A focus on delivering results and the ability to drive change to improve performance, services, and outcomes.
• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
• Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• CPA preferred and Big Four experience preferred
• Required: either CPA or four years of Big Four experience
Travel Requirements
• 0-5% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
Physical/Work Environment Requirements
• Required to be in person in the Baton Rouge office a minimum of two days a week
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Climbing stairs.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Quiet environment.
• Light work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
