The DER Director of Pre-Engineering will oversee the survey process and development of documentation required for pricing, energy modeling and financial modeling, while supervising and mentoring Renewable Energy Systems Analysts, Senior. The DER Director of PreEngineering responsibilities include the ability to plan and conduct work requiring judgement in independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Manages all aspects of DER Pre-Engineering for projects including electrical equipment inventories, energy conservation measures, pricing narratives, schematic drawings, definitive transaction document exhibits, etc.
• Coordinates with clients, external resources, and internal team members to ensure that the client requirements have been accurately documented and communicated to all parties.
• Manages all incoming DER project information from internal and external stakeholders; and coordinate with survey team leaders, project engineers, designers, and department managers.
• Coordinates with survey team leaders in and assist with creating schedules and conducting site surveys to determine existing facility electrical conditions and generate DER energy conservation projects.
• Develops and continuously tracks talent resources and metrics to ensure that all DER PreEngineering projects are delivered on time, and on budget.
• Develops and establishes training for Renewable Energy Systems Analysts and Energy Systems Analyst, senior personnel.
• Establishes and delivers a process for frequent tracking and Delivers frequent and timely reporting of project status, schedule, and workload.
• Ensures that all communications originated from team members to client representatives, contractors, and outside consultants is properly documented and achieved.
• Manages the DER project transition process from the pre-engineering team to the design team.

• Applies Knowledge of applicable codes/standards in retrofit solutions process.
• Creates a collaborative workplace for Renewable Energy Systems Analyst to communicate on projects.
• Attends in-house and external training sessions to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas related to building systems.
• Participates in industry organizations and attends events, meetings, and activities.
• Upholds company owner advocacy philosophy and organizational core values.
• Completes other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from a four year ABET accredited university.
• Ten years of experience within industry.
• Professional Engineering license.
• Experience with high level complex facility energy projects, with knowledge of Central Energy Plants, Distributed Energy Resources, and control systems.
• Experience leading Survey Teams including coordination with design teams, energy modelers, financial modelers, and developers.
• Required experience in Excel and Word.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written format
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
• Ability to manage time effectively to meet project deadlines.
• Passion for quality and client satisfaction.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
• Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications
• Experience leading Survey Teams and supporting the collaboration with energy modelers, financial modelers, and developers.
• Experience with financial plans and budget objectives.
• Knowledge of the comprehensive business model and energy market dynamics.
• Experience with demand response programs, utility rate structures, metering, and infrastructure requirements.
• Knowledge of the energy industry and related law, systems, codes and economics.
• Experience with financial plans and budget objectives.
Travel Requirements
• 25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location. Initial travel requirements for the first 6 to 12 months will be closer to 50%.
