Overview

The Commissioning Provider III provides leadership in all aspects of one or more construction projects. Manages a team of Commissioning Agents and Technicians to execute multiple commissioning projects. Provide leadership and oversight to the Commissioning team to ensure that the commissioning scope of work is executed in an efficient and accurate manner. Frequently interacts with the owner, owner's representatives, contractors, engineers, and architects to fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple commissioning projects, including client interface, team coordination, schedule, and budget management.
  • Contribute to improving commissioning processes and building on commissioning best practices.
  • Manage the full construction project lifecycle, from initial project planning phases through the completion of construction.
  • Meet with clients, architects, engineers, and other design personnel to establish project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Work with the Commissioning Project manager and Director to understand construction project resources and track project progress against established timelines and schedules.
  • Ensure deliverables are held to for the client.
  • Act as a liaison between the client and project team members regarding changes or problems.
  • Perform and mentor team members on complex commissioning tasks.
  • Participate in the execution of commissioning tasks in the field with the Agents/Technicians.
  • Coordinate with clients, external resources, and internal team members to ensure that the client requirements have been accurately documented and communicated to all parties.
  • Manage all incoming project information from clients, internal and external customers; and distribute to Commissioning
  • Agents and Technicians to ensure that the commissioning scope of work is executed in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate with the Commissioning Project Manager to continuously track project talent resources and metrics to ensure that the project is delivered on time, and on budget.
  • Establish and deliver a process for frequent tracking and reporting of project status and execution for communication to the client and to internal/external customers.
  • Ensure that all communication originating from team members to client representatives, contractors, and outside consultants are properly documented.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise the work of Commissioning Agents and Technicians.
  • Provide input to the Commissioning Director for the development and maintenance of commissioning standards and processes.
  • Interact directly with owners and clients to manage expectations.
  • Assist the Commissioning Director in the development and marketing of new opportunities, including participation in new project interviews and pursuing new opportunities with current clients.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • 10+ years of commissioning or related experience with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, automatic temperature control systems, or building operation management experience.
  • 5 years of project management experience managing integrated project teams in one of the following sectors: Engineering, Construction, Facilities Management, or Energy.
  • Experience in building construction and controls.
  • Experience in HVAC mechanical equipment and design.
  • Commissioning Certification from ACG, BCxA, ASHRAE.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build collaborative relationships.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research skills.
  • Strong project management and scheduling skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinker and problem solver.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.
  • Able to interact with the owner, contractor and design team in a professional manner.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient with Cloud Based commissioning software platforms.
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment without losing sight of big picture.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Well-versed in the industry and the Company's competitors.
  • Engineering Intern (EI) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Physical Requirements

  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles
  • Climbing stairs.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces

  • Operating machinery and/or power tools
  • Medium work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 50 pounds

Travel Requirements

  • 25-40% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
